Christmas Market - Island-wide
Tel:876 922 1287; 876 922 1288
This event is a festive one, especially for kids. On Christmas morning, parents take their children to this Christmas market to purchase gifts and toys. The laughter and excitement as one strolls through the crowd is almost something that can be touched. On Christmas Market Day, most streets that lead to the regular market are blocked. Most notably is King Street, Kingston, which is transformed into a sea of colour.
Each parish has its own market. This is the culmination of Grand Market, which is the all-night selling on Christmas Eve. There are street dances and festivity throughout the night.

Gallery of West Indian Art
1 Orange Lane, Kingston, Jamaica
Tel: 876 952 4547
The first thing one notices about this building is the vibrant colors of red, green and gold, but this is just a hint at the wash of color found inside. Outrageously painted animal carvings, including birds, cats, fish and toads in every shape and size grace the grounds. Each piece is unique, the only similarity being the polka-dots that cover each and every item. The pieces are acquired from all over the Caribbean, especially from Haiti, Cuba and Jamaica. The dots are added primarily in Jamaica. Other items on display include authentic Jamaican dolls, sarongs and handmade kitchen towels.
